Gentle chimes in the language of the sea. One bell for each half-hour and eight bells at 4:00, 8:00 and 12:00 to mark the end of a mariner’s watch. Handcrafted mechanism with 11-jewel movement. 364 brass and goldplated parts. The companion barometer features a double bellows holosteric movement that mechanically measures changes in atmospheric pressure to foretell changing weather. Readings of “Stormy,” “Rain,” “Change,” “Fair,” or “Very Dry” are handsomely displayed in inches and millibars. Barometer movements are automatically calibrated for altitudes up to 2,000 feet. Both pieces are housed in solid forged brass cases with deeply etched hand-silvered 4½” dials. Hand-assembled and individually buffed, polished and lacquered to a lustrous tarnish-resistant finish. Handmade in America with custom German-made movement.
